Welcome! ACSMC is a day camp for 6th-12th grade band and orchestra students and 8th-12th grade vocalists.

• As a joint venture between Austin College and the Sherman Symphony Orchestra, ACSMC is the only program of its kind in our region.
• Students will participate in music classes and ensemble rehearsals led by Austin College professors, regional music directors, and Sherman Symphony Orchestra musicians. Students perform in two ensembles, and they have their choice of one elective class (see ‘Camp Electives’ below for class descriptions).
• Each student must submit the ACSMC registration form and tuition. There is no audition requirement. Students must register by the May 15 deadline to guarantee participation. All payments are due no later than June 1.

Each student is placed in a chamber group and a large ensemble with musicians of comparable age and experience.

• Chamber ensembles are groups of 3-6 students, organized by division, such as: woodwind trios, string quartets, brass quintets, and comparable ensembles for percussion and voice, respectively.
• Large ensembles include band, choir, string orchestra, and any collaborations between those ensembles.
• Placement is determined by factors such as: current repertoire, recent achievements (solo/ensemble contests, regional/state competitions), and teacher input.

• A $20 deposit is due upon registering.
• The $280 balance is due by June 1 and may be paid in full, or in two payments.
• Financial aid is available for students who need assistance meeting the tuition requirement. Financial aid is strictly need-based.
• On the registration form, students may submit a request to be considered for financial aid. The ACSMC Executive Director will respond to each inquiry received.
• All financial aid inquiries must be submitted by the May 15 registration deadline to be considered.
